one of the theory's my teacher exposed me to is while we watched the movie contact.

ocomes razor.  which bottom line means in a large problem the most simple answer tends to be the correct one.

another i guess this is a theory is from Carl Sagan "if we were alone in the galaxy that would be an awfully big waste of space."

I agree with you and Carl Sagan there.
I also think it would be egotistical to think we are the only life forms in a solar system.

Yeah, plants would technically count as extraterrestrial life. It may not be the generic "little green men" or the "Gray aliens with inverted teardrop heads and almond eyes" type of thing that people expect to encounter. Personally, I would think it would be great if "aliens" landed on earth, and we found out that they look like us! It would be a million miles away from the anatomically unsimilar specimens that we conjure up when some random person says "alien".

To be honest, whether or not Sagan was stoned when he came up with that sentence, he was on to something.

Well even the laws of probability would state that there has to be a certain amount of planets that have life, or can sustain it as there is an awful amount of planets out there.

Could these visitors be from other dimensions? Or from our future?
